The Maranoa Electorate is an
area of 546,830 square kilometres, making it the second largest
federal
electorate in Queensland.
It abounds in natural resources, primary industries and pioneering
icons which reflect the heart and heritage of Australia. Coal,
oil,
gas, cotton, beef, wool, grain, wine, olives, fruit, vegetables,
gemstones, education, manufacturing and other services are just
a few of the industries in the electorate that continue to make
large contributions to employment and to the wealth of the nation.
Tourism is a flourishing industry with many visitors flocking
to experience what Maranoa has to offer, including the spectacular
Queen Mary Falls, Palms National Park, Bunya Mountains, and all
of the images of the Australian outback brought to life by the
region. Maranoa is also home to many sites that are a celebration
of Australia's heritage, including Glengallen Homestead in Warwick,
Jimbour House near Dalby, the Birdsville Races and the Burke & Wills
Dig Tree.
The spirit and
innovative nature of the people of this electorate make me very
proud to represent Maranoa in the capacity of
Federal
Member and I encourage those who either live or are visiting
here to experience and take advantage of all that this electorate
has
to offer.
The Hon Bruce Scott MP
